Wirral Mencap exists to advance equality for people with a learning disability and their families. Our mission is to improve the quality of life of people with a learning disability and their families and create a more accessible, inclusive and supportive community in Wirral. We campaign, raise awareness, provide information and advice and offer supported personal development and learning opportunities.
We are affiliated to the national charity Royal Mencap and share the same values and vision. However, Wirral Mencap is an independent local charity operating as a completely separate organisation. We make sure what we do in Wirral fills the gap in local service provision and addresses the needs of local people and family carers. We have to raise all our own funds from grants and other fundraising activities. Support from individuals and local businesses is vital in helping us keep doing what we do – changing people’s lives.
